MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR NOVEMBER 2007 CITY ELECTIONS

WE HAVE AN OPPOURTUNITY TO ELECT A NEW CITY COUNCIL MEMBER FOR DISTRICT I

* Reduce the cut through traffic over the Forest Hill Bridge. Although a petition was submitted to the city with over 750 signatures for the city to do something, we were told there is not a problem.

* Slow down the speeding Traffic on Alta Vista cutting through the neighborhood. Anyone who lives on this street and others is aware of the on-going safety problem we have.

* Lack of coordination between the City of Houston permitting office and the Deed Restriction Teamof the City of Houston.  The City of Houston issues permits to individuals applying without verifying if Ded Restrictions are in place in a neighborhood, other than asking the applicant to check a box yes or no! This has been an on going battle for our neighborhood!

* Stop the Vehicular Cruising around Mason Park. This is our neighborhood, and we need civility. 

* Enforce the city's noise ordinance by ticketing vehicles playing loud music. How many times have you been awakened in the middle of the night? The Houston Police Department averaged over 500 calls a year in 04 and 05 regarding this problem. Not one ticket was issued.

* Close the 8 Liner (gambling) business in the East End. This is a growing problem in the East End and all through the City, why can it not be addressed?
